Research is clear that symptoms of trauma can stem from any incident in which the threat of grave harm was real or perceived.
If your brain thought you were in danger, then it reacted like it. Trauma is more about the reaction than the facts.
My job is to help you heal, not to judge you.
Another great thing about EMDR is that, because it's not a "talking" therapy, you don't have to say anything out loud that you don't want to.
But again, my job is never to tell you what counts as trauma or not. I will treat your case with the same level of care and compassion as every other client.

While I encourage clients to come into the office when possible, sometimes distances or schedules do not permit.
I have found EMDR treatment delivered in-person and virtually to be equally effective.
Yes, all clients must be physically located in the State of Michigan during therapy appointments, even if attending virtually.
That said, my license applies to the entire state of Michigan, so you can attend virtual appointments from anywhere within the State.
EMDR is an extremely effective adjunctive therapy-- meaning that it can happen alongside your regular talk-therapy.
In fact, since EMDR is more experiential, and offers less room for talking in general, maintaining your relationship with your talk therapist can be beneficial.
Insurance will, typically, still pay for EMDR even if you're still seeing your regular therapist on a weekly basis.
The most convenient parking option is the 4th & William Parking Deck located at 4th Street and William St.
This parking structure costs $1.65 per hour.
There are other parking structures nearby such as the South Ashley St Lot and the 4th & Washington Lot. These all cost the same hourly rate.
Streetside parking may or may not be available. As you may know, parking in downtown Ann Arbor can be competitive.
Finally, if you're willing and able to walk 10 minutes, free parking can be found in the neighborhoods West of South Main St.
